Commercial
description
This video was the third assignment of the Visual Story class, as part of
the Entertainment Technology Center first year curriculum. The purpose
of the video was to create a 30 second commercial.
design
We opted to do a parody of a classic Mentos commercial because the Mentos commercials of the '90s have a very recognizable plot structure
that is always humorous. The key elements to the classic Mentos plot structure are: the incident (which always involves one or more separate
people, the mentos pop, the idea, gathering items/putting the idea in motion, the reveal of the unexpected, clever, but believable idea,
the acknowledgement of the idea from the others, and the classic Mentos smile freeze frame. Ours is a parody because we take it a step further
into ridiculousness because our protagonist's solution is unbelievable, but that just makes it that much more unexpected and hilarious.
